Hi,
there is now a "real" fax application in the appstore.
Fax (short for facsimile, from Latin fac simile, "make similar", i.e. "make a copy")

You can take or select photos and convert them to faxable B/W documents.

Two fax service providers are supported: interfax an sipgate.

Its available on the appstore: finarxFax.

Have fun!

I am a bit miffed with the calendar function of the iPhone. It all syncs well over the air with exchange. However, when I create an appointment on the phone,I cannot see a way of adding attendees/recipients. Am I missing something?

In a direct comparison of features, the iPhone's PIM functions come off worse. Since v.2 firmware, it has improved a lot, but still has a way to go (still no syncing of ToDos - wtf apple?). Put it this way, if the default PIM features in your E90 are fine for you, then the iPhone is probably also o.k for you. But if you installed a 3rd-party PIM like Agenda or Aqua Calendar..then...the iPhone will disappoint.

Hmm...although the AppStore has OmniFocus and Things (both GTD apps, both sync with desktop apps)

I am also long history with PDA, in particular Palm (own at least 6 different versions of Palm since Palm Pilot). Moved to Windows Mobile phone. Was very disappointed at how lousy as a PDA and a phone it is. Went back to Nokia phone plus Palm PDA until I switch to Nokia E90. It is a very good device (HSDPA data speed, 3G, support VoIP, good keyboard to type long sms/notes, good screen for web browsing). However, the PIM sucks.
I am looking at the new 3G iPhone. After reading your article, look like the PIM is no bad as well. Really miss Palm PIM.
I use Calendar, ToDo, Contacts & Notes a lot. Should I switch to a Windows Mobile PDA phone?

I called T-Mobile to activate the fax data (you get a second number when they activate the fax data option) and they told me that the i-Phone 3G cannot send or receive a fax. It's a one-time cost of € 12,61 to activate this.

Anyone know more about this? Because this is my old subscription, I wait for my new one in a few weeks, and I want the fax on for that one.

Greetings.

Well, in Europe itself, it varies quite a bit between countries. But as an example, here in Germany you can have from O2 a datatariff of 200mb for €10 per month, I have the iPhone tariff from T-Mobile, and that gives me unlimited internet (this also includes germany-wide free T-Com WiFi hotspot access) for about €30. Data is MUCH cheaper here than Canada, which has the most expensive data tariffs in the western world. Did I say I know this because my family lives in Canada? and works for Telus? ;-)
